The timing alone gives Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” a searing sense of urgency, contemplating black inequality through the prism of the Vietnam War. Despite powerful moments, the film itself doesn’t consistently measure up to that ambition, enjoyably mashing up old movies while indulging in a few too many detours en route to its destination.
